Here are some pictures from a recent trip there:
Pig

Unlike mainland Japan, pig is a staple food in Okinawa. Traditionally, people ate all parts of the animal.

Including the tail.

The intestines are used to make soup and stir-fry.

A specialty at the market is pig tongue. Sometimes, people special order the brain.

Like this TV show.

You can see the remains of the brains on the bone saw.
Fish

They also sell non-poisonous Okinawan blowfish, called abasa.

And ransou, which are large fish ovaries. It is often eaten raw.

If you want something soft, slow-cooked, and globular, stew up some fish eyes.
Snake

If you want something poisonous, try the irabu sea snake. They use it to make soup.

They also make alcohol out of the poisonous habu snake.

It is called habushu and is supposed to be good for the yang.
