Sea urchin, or uni in Japanese, are a popular topping on sushi. The fresher they are, the better they taste, and this is why gathering them at the ocean yourself is the best way to eat them!
Here is a picture of sea urchin collected on the east coast of Okinawa Island.

Here are the sea urchin in the sink with the other catch of the day: a nice crab and a small fish called taman in Okinawan language and hama fuefuki dai in Japanese.

The crab and taman fit well in the pot...time for nabe!
